Local Spices
Sure you can buy tons of spices locally, but are those spices grown/created/developed locally, or is your local vendor just shipping in those spices from some foreign land?
As I begin to put together my yearly Bucket List, versus New Year's Resolutions that just never transpire, I have decided to pursue the task of finding and using as many locally made spices as possible.
I decided to start with salt - the most basic of all spices and one that every culture obviously uses. I have enjoyed salts from many lands and many seas, but was delighted to find some wonderful salts that are made in the State of Maine in the good old USA.

I could not imagine my culinary world without Sea Salt and the sea salt from Maine lives up to my expectations. So far I have tried two other salts that they produce: Apple Smoked and Lemon. The Apple Smoked salt is fabulous on any type of pork and I loved the lemon salt on Chicken and a variety of vegetables.
I can't wait to experiment more and report back my findings!
