Patisserie Lenox

Patisserie LenoxThe Patisserie Lenox is a pleasant little patisserie in pleasant little Lenox, in the Berkshire Mountains.  We visited them after touring one of the local historical mansions.

It is easy to miss Church Street; we have missed it for years. We both had the nagging suspicion that there must be more of a village center to Lenox than what we had seen on Route 7a (or on that particularly sterile stretch of Rte 7) but we were always en route to someplace else and never slowed down enough to look around. It was a hot tip for lunch from a docent at Ventfort Hall that finally got us there.

Patisserie Lenox pastry counterThe pastry counter was a wonder to behold, with properly prepared fruit tarts and eclairs and pastry swans and all the good stuff. Behind the counter there were maybe two dozen good teas that could be had by the cup, pot, or Samovar!

They have savories as well; Lorna had a puff pastry filled with mushrooms in a perfectly seasoned bechamel sauce, and I remember they had two interesting soups available, some quiches, and other light fare.

I thought the coffee was excellent.

The place was nicely decorated. The help was knowledgeable, courteous, and quick. The rest room was large and clean. They obviously take pride in their establishment, as well they should. We'll be back.
