Lorna found satan's Kingdom on the map, well off the beaten track near Lake Dunmore, south of Middlebury on the western slopes of the Green Mountains.
Contrary to its name (and possibly its history), it is a small, cute lakeside community of summer cottages.
We got there on September 9, just a week after Labor Day, and it was already pretty quiet there. I bet the views will be glorious in a month when the foliage across Lake Dunmore is at its peak.
