Ellsworth, the "Crossroads of Downeast Maine", is a two-headed beast: It has a cute little downtown area with shops and restaurants, including the John Edwards Market.  

It also has a huge strip of chain stores and restaurants, a Wal*Mart, and the rest of the usual suspects on the stretch of road after the turn down Rte 3 toward Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor.
