Potatoes

Most people know of at least two types of potatoes, boiling potatoes and baking potatoes. You might even think of Maine potatoes as boilers and Idaho potatoes as bakers. There's more to that story! See 10 Flavorful Potatoes at this interesting page.

Lorna and I bought 20 pounds of Green Mountain potatoes way up in Aroostook County, Maine, where most of the potatoes are grown. What a revelation! It's a baker, and it has a ton more flavor that a supermarket Idaho potato.

Potatoes do not have to be refrigerated, but they should be stored in a cool location, and kept in the dark. If you buy them from the farmer, do not wash them until you are ready to cook them.
