Hanover Food Coop

Hanover, NH coopThe Coop Food Stores of Hanover, Lebanon, and White River Junction have served their area since the Great Depression by providing high-quality and local foods. It is one of the best places we know of to find Vermont and NH artisanal cheeses, ciders and microbrewed ales, Jersey Cow Cream, awesome produce including heirloom Apples, and other great finds - it really is a foodie/locavore heaven.

The selection of artisanal cheeses alone is worth the trip (about 1 hour NW on Rte 89 from Concord, NH). Here you will find cheeses from Lazy Lady, Green Mountain Blue Cheese Company, Willow Hill, Boggy Meadow Farm, Consider Bartwell, Vermont Shepherd, and other local artisanal cheesemakers that you seldom see at Whole Foods and never see at the supermarket.

As a coop, it is owned and run by its members. You can become a member even if you do not live in the area.

The Coop Stores include other stores in Lebanon and White River Junction. We have never been to the latter, and we find the Lebanon store to be somewhat cavernous and dreary, but the Hanover Coop is definitely worth the trip.

Note also that the Hanover Coop is about five minutes away from the King Arthur Flour Company Baker's Store so it is twice as easy to come up with a reason to visit!
