Sam Mazza's is one of those big, well-lighted, attractively appointed tourist-attraction farmstands with plenty of non-farmstandy fare like stuffed animals and cute garden accessories. But if you can get past all that, they do carry a lot of good local Vermont products beyond the ubiquitous maple syrup, including cheeses and meats. I was there in early April, before the local farms were producing anything, but I did get a cob-smoked pepperoni from Vermont Smoke and Cure.

Sam Mazza's is just off the road out to pretty Malletts Bay, a few minutes off I-89 in Colchester, VT.
