Monkey GlandSummary
Description![]() The Monkey Gland is a great treat to make after skinning a bunch of oranges for Old Fashioneds. It has a kooky name, but it is a beautiful cocktail and it has great buzz-factor at parties. People respond in unpredictable ways when you ask politely if they would like a Monkey Gland. The cocktail gets its awesome color from a bit of Pernod and a bit of Grenadine mixed with a fair amount of orange juice and an equal quantity of gin, which of course lends no color. The drink was popular in the 1920s, when it poked fun at a surgical practice then au courant in France for men of flagging sexual potency. You can get more details at Wikipedia; they really don't belong on a foodies website! Ingredients
