Clem's Sausage

Clem's Sausage, Worcester MAClem's is a modest place with good product. In addition to home-made sausages, fresh or frozen, links or patties, they sell egg, some bulk veggies and other bulk fare, although I have not yet discovered a pattern as to what they normally carry. It's a small operation.

They are easy to miss! It is in the Bahnan's Market plaza, in an L of the building, so you can only see the storefront if you are heading away from downtown on Pleasant Street, towards Ed Hyder's. See the photo above.

Clem's Patties on the GrillI really enjoyed both the sweet and the XXHot sausage patties that I got there. The fellow who sold them to me (not Clem; I think Clem is long-departed) wisely tied off the XXHot bag with two red ties, while the sweet bag got a single green tie.

I found them coarse-ground and very flavorful, with the right amount of fennel, good meat, and no gristle. The XXHot were hot enough to be hot but not too hot to taste. Both types cooked up easily on the grill.

I'll stop in for more the next time I go to Bahnan's.
