This is an antique summer cooler. It is elegant in appearance if a bit sweet.

The sweetness depends on the port you use, of course, and that also determines the whole flavor of this simple drink. Good port makes a very nice drink indeed! 

Ingredients

2ozRuby Port
1⁄2ozSoda
1TBrandy
1pnNutmeg (ground)

Instructions

  1. Put port in a tall glass filled with crushed ice.
  2. Add soda to almost fill.
  3. Float Brandy on top.
  4. Sprinkle with Nutmeg.

Notes

This is pretty sweet for modern tastes - you can add a little lemon juice or a lemon wedge to brighten the flavor a bit.
